October Mejia blog update, 2015

Ministry continues in both congregations, Emmanuel Episcopal Church (Coxen Hole) and St. Peter by the Sea in Brick Bay, with God’s help. At Emmanuel Church, two years ago we moved to our own property and it was really a blessing. Many things have happened, many people have come and gone, but with our brothers and sisters that have stayed, we are learning, growing and serving the Most High – and the most amazing – God.

We celebrated our second anniversary from August 28th-30th.

It was a privilege to celebrate this special occasion with our chief pastor: Lloyd Emmanuel Allen, the Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Honduras, was our guest speaker on the topic of “Empowering the Church”.

The youth performed some drama and dance, and the girls’ group danced to the Lord on all three days of the event.

Three people from the Brick Bay church were confirmed: Judy, Beatriz and our son Stephen Daniel. Congratulations, and may the grace of God continue to open doors for them to grow.

We continue celebrating Children Day in our church, some games and a Pinata, were enough for them to have fun.

We are starting a new discipleship course with a new group and the first group that started a year ago has almost finished their course.

Continuing with the construction

We estimate that in November/December we will be in a position to order all the materials for the roof, and in January, the materials for part of the floor. We are excited and expect short-term missions teams from New Brunswick and Ontario to come and help in January, March and April.

Also at the Church in Brick Bay we built a new altar that was blessed and consecrated by Bishop Lloyd Allen for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

To Support our Ministry

To continue to support our ministry financially please read this important message about changes:

Some of you may have heard that SAMS Canada is no longer maintaining its status as a Canadian charity.  However, effective September 1st, you can continue to support us through the Diocese of Fredericton.  You can visit their website (www.anglican.nb.ca) then go to “give now” for various ways to give.

Cheques should be made to “The Diocesan Synod of Fredericton” and sent to:

Anglican Diocesan Synod of Fredericton

115 Church Street, Fredericton, NB  E3B 4C8

Phone: (506) 459-1801

All donations should have “The Honduras Mission” noted on the reference line.  We greatly appreciate your prayer and financial support to date and trust that you will continue to support us.

SAMS Canada will continue to provide news updates and prayer requests electronically through their website (www.samscanada.ca).  SAMS will also continue to support Canadians who want to go on short term missions and help with sewing, evangelism, construction or Vacation Bible schools, etc.

Please continue to pray for:

  1. Continued financial support for the next three years as we continue to serve the Lord on Roatán, Honduras
  2. Our congregations: St. Peter by the Sea in Brick Bay and Emmanuel in Coxen Hole.
  1. Short Term Mission teams that are planning to come to Roatán next year: From Miramichi, New Brunswick in January/February; from New Song Anglican Church in Port Perry, Ontario, in March; from St. George’s Anglican Church in London, Ontario, in April.
Note: A group from St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Tampa Bay, Florida, is coming to Roatán on a cruise early next year.  We plan to meet at the church in Coxen Hole for worship and give them a tour.
  2. Guitar and Piano classes.
  3. Sewing project training in November/December.
  4. The ongoing construction in Coxen Hole – we hope to start on part of the roof in November/December.
  5. Spiritual and practical outreach in the local communities

Thank you very much for your prayers and continued support that enables us to continue in this ministry.

May God continue to richly bless you.

Nelson and Kara Mejia.

Empowering the Church.
